Snickerdoodle Cookie Recipe
The snickerdoodle cookie recipe is another favorite we make durring the holidays. There is nothing better than a cup of hot chocolate, or hot buttered rum with a few snickerdoodles for dipping.
Ingredients
1/2 cup salted butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
Rolling Mixture:
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Hardware
Whisk
Large bowl
Medium bowl
Small bowl
Cookie sheets
Mixer
Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
Step 3: In a large bowl, with an electric mixer, cream together butter, shortening, and sugar.
Step 4: Beat in eggs and vanilla extract.
Step 5: Add flour gradually, mixing until just combined.
Step 6: In a small bowl, stir together 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon; set aside.
Step 7: Roll dough into small teaspoon sized balls.
Step 8: Roll each ball in sugar/cinnamon mixture and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Step 9: Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until set but not hard. Remove immediately to cooling surface.
Makes about 60 cookies.
