Holiday Biscotti Recipe

The holiday biscotti recipe uses festive ingredients to bring color and flavor to this crunchy cookie!
Ingredients
1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 cup chopped candied red cherries
1/4 cup chopped candied green cherries
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Egg wash: (optional)
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon water.

Mixer
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2: Lightly grease cookie sheet; set aside.
Step 3: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder; set aside.
Step 4: In a large bowl, with an electric mixer cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
Step 5: Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in almond extract.
Step 6: Add flour mixture an mix until just combined.
Step 7: Stir in candied cherries, white chocolate chips, and semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Step 8: With lightly floured hands, shape dough into two 10-inch long by 3-inch wide loaves.
Step 9: Place loaves on prepared cookie sheet and flatten slightly.
Step 10: Optional. In a small bowl, beat together 1 egg and 1 tablespoon water. Brush each loaf with egg wash.
Step 11: Bake 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned.
Step 12: Cool loaves for 10 minutes and then with a very sharp serrated knife cut diagonally into 1/2-inch slices.
Step 13: Place slices cut side down on cookie sheet and return to even for 10 minutes.
Step 14: Turn slices over and bake an additional 5 minutes.
Makes 24 biscotti.
