Gingerbread Bar Recipe
The gingerbread bar recipe is another great holiday treat that will disappear in seconds!
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 1/2 sticks (3/4 cup) salted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 large egg
Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cookie sheets
Mixer
Step 1: Place oven racks at top third and bottom third of oven.
Step 2: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 3: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt, baking soda, cloves, ground ginger, and cinnamon; set aside.
Step 4: In a large bowl, with an electric mixer cream together butter and sugar.
Step 5: Mix in molasses and egg.
Step 6: Blend in flour mixture until combined.
Step 7: Divide into six portions. Shape each portion into a 12-inch log. Flatten each log with hand until thickness is about 1/4-inch.
Step 8: In a small bowl, with an electric mixer blend sugar and milk together until creamy.
Step 9: Brush each bar with glaze.
Step 10: Place cookie sheet on top third oven rack and bake for 6 minutes.
Step 11: Remove cookie sheet and place on bottom third rack, bake an additional 6-9 minutes.
Step 12: Remove from oven and cool for 5 minutes. Cut each bar diagonally into 2-inch width pieces.
Makes about 50 bars.
