German Chocolate Brownies Recipe



The German chocolate brownies recipe tastes just like the cake, but are more dense and rich in flavor!

Ingredients
1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter
1 (4 ounce) package German sweet chocolate, broken into squares
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Topping:
2 tablespoons salted butter, melted.
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup chopped pecans
2 tablespoon corn syrup
2 tablespoons milk

Hardware
Medium bowl
Medium saucepan
9x9x2-inch baking pan

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2: Lightly grease the bottom and sides of an 9x9x2-inch baking pan; set aside.
Step 3: In the medium saucepan, melt the butter and chocolate until smooth. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
Step 4: Mix in sugar and vanilla extract.
Step 5: Beat in the eggs.
Step 6: Mix in the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Step 7: Pour into the prepared baking pan.
Step 8: Bake for 18-22 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean when inserted in center.

Topping:
Step 1: In a medium bowl, combine 2 tablespoons melted butter and 1/2 cup packed brown sugar.
Step 2: Add 1 cup coconut, 1/2 cup chopped pecans, 2 tablespoons corn syrup, and 2 tablespoons milk.
Step 3: Drop topping by tablespoons onto warm brownies. Spread evenly. Broil for 2-4 minutes in oven until top is browned and bubbly. Cool completely before cutting.

Makes 16 brownies.
