Edible Royal Frosting Recipe
The edible royal frosting recipe can be used for gingerbread houses as well as cookies. But unlike the traditional recipe that uses raw egg whites, this recipe uses meringue powder, which is perfectly safe to eat!
2 cups powdered sugar
4 teaspoons meringue powder
1/4 cup warm water
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
Food coloring if desired
Step 1: In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients.
Step 2: Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until combined.
Step 3: Beat on high speed for 7-10 minutes or until mix stiffens.
Note: An additional amount of meringue powder can be used to thicken the frosting, or teaspoons of warm water can be used to thin the frosting.
Makes enough frosting for 50 cookies.
