Cinnamon Bun Scone Recipe



The cinnamon bun scone recipe combines the texture of a scone with the flavors of a cinnamon bun!

Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup quick oats
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, chilled
3/4 cup milk
1 egg slightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Topping:
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Hardware

Large bowl
2 x small bowl
Pastry blender (optional)
Cookie sheet

Step 1: Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Step 2: Lightly grease a cookie sheet; set aside
Step 3: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Step 4: With a pastry blender or two knives cut butter into 1/4-inch size pieces and add to flour mixture to resemble coarse crumbs.
Step 5: In a small bowl, combine milk, egg, and vanilla extract; blend well.
Step 6: Pour liquid mixture into flour mixture and stir well to combine.
Step 7: In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, and chopped nuts. Sprinkle evenly over dough and gently stir to just combine mixture into swirls.
Step 8: Drop dough by 1/4 cupfuls 2 inches part on prepared cookie sheet.
Step 9: Bake for 11-13 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer scones to cooling surface.

Makes about 12 scones.
