Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipes
Although this cookie is made from common ingredients of flour, sugar (white and/or brown), butter or margarine, baking powder and/or baking soda, eggs, vanilla, and chocolate chips, taste and texture do vary by recipe. History: Ruth Wakefield, of the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts, is credited with inventing this one of a kind cookie. As the story goes, that one day in 1930, she cut a Nestle's Semisweet Yellow Label Chocolate bar into small chunks and added it to her butter cookie dough. The cookies were an instant hit with her customers and have been America’s most popular cookie ever since. Fun Fact: The chocolate chip cookie is the official state cookie of Massachusetts, where it was invented, but was also recently declared the official state cookie of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on February 7, 2001.
